Thai Wat in New Mexico

Thai culture is alive and well all over the United States. You can find in Thai markets, restaurants and churches.  When we travel from state to state we enjoy seeking out and visiting the local Thai church (called a Wat). We find it interesting to see the differences between our Wat in Las Vegas.

In New Mexico, we found Wat Buddahamongkolnimit in Albuquerque not far from our hotel.  We visited the Wat yesterday on the 4th of July.  It has been our experience that Thai monks are generally very friendly and excited to meet new people.  Especially people like Carol, who looks American but speaks Thai and know the customs.

The Monks at this Wat were extra friendly and made us feel right at home and spent a lot of time chatting with us. After the Monks had their lunch, we had our turn eating some delicious Thai food and talking with the other visitors while cleaning up after ourselves.

Here are a couple photos from our visit.
